How will that be achieved at the same time as feeding eight to 10 billion people around the middle of the century, or without destroying native vegetation and biodiversity?’

CO2 is not the problem. Even if emissions are cut tomorrow, collapse is still inevitable. This week, the other COP on biodiversity expresses, ‘…grave concern that the unprecedented and interrelated crises of biodiversity loss, climate change, land degradation and desertification, ocean degradation, and pollution, and increasing risks to human health and food security, pose an existential threat to our society, our culture, our prosperity and our planet’. Western democracies are failing on climate-ecological collapse. We need MORE democracy today: fully informed populations; an end to corruption and nepotism; a rolling back of draconian protest laws. Foster a #collapseconscious citizenry and give power back to the people!

Some think that authoritarianism is a ‘fix’. This is naive. Collapse cannot be ‘fixed’. Authority of any kind will try to make the best of a bad situation. This includes preservation of the power elite. This is happening now – it’s not abstract. Justice now! A #justcollapse!

Almost all countries are in ecological overshoot. But the lions share of overshoot lies with the Global North, with developed countries. This is where the hard work must take place. A #plannedcollapse is a #justcollapse. Seek justice! Take action!

Like climate-COP, there is another COP failing to put an end to planetary destruction. Biodiversity is its focus, and it’s happening now in China.
