Yet, even in this new UN report, the truth has been tampered with: ‘A senior advisor to the UN office for Disaster Risk Reduction and contributor to the Global Assessment Report who spoke to Byline Times on condition of anonymity, claims that the GAR2022 was watered-down before public release. The source said that the world had “passed a point of no return” and “I don’t feel this is being properly represented in UN or media as of now”’.

Thanks for sharing this update on the UN report, Kate. No surprise, of course, that the UN overseers got the report watered down, but I am glad that one of them spilled the beans on that. I think that the UN is under a strict directive and heavy pressure to never speak out against capitalism, so their climate team is therefore also barred from declaring the obvious need to cut back on or eliminate economic growth and excessive industrial productions (nearly all of which are excessive, at this point).

The day after UN Secretary General Guterres’ speech announcing the dire conclusions of the UN report, I did some math and revised the old Global Carbon Project’s carbon budget chart based on the UN statements regarding likely trajectory. I realize that it is based on information that is watered down intentionally (to protect the industrial capitalist status quo), and that many more honest scientists and Earth protectors say that we already have no “carbon budget” left, but I wanted to show people that even the watered down official projections show that the climate planetary overshoot boundary will be shot at least by 2029. (My poster can be shared freely by anybody who wants to use it.)
