Doomer conversion therapy

Gaslighting Doomers – Help us fact-check some of the claims made in this 20min podcast from the BBC’s Climate Disinformation Specialist.

a) It’s not too late – it’s possible to limit warming to 1.5C

b) We know exactly what needs to be done

c) The sooner we act, the more we can limit the impact

d) Climate doomerism is not based on scientific fact

[While listening don’t miss the comedy gold: A former doomer who has undergone conversion therapy says, ‘I’ve just embraced a radical hope that we could get ourselves out of this because I understand that by embracing that radical hope, as insane as it seems, is the only way we make it out alive’].

  1. Note how it’s 100% fact free. All you need is your feelings, no facts needed. I’ve seen BBC do this kind of thing 1-2 decades ago in another matter, the “bad guy”/lady who gets corrected and returns to the “good” fold.

For climate, Yale Climate Connection did something similar for the Arctic Methane situation, something I covered extensively with Jennifer Hynes on my YouTube Going South back in the day.

It’s primitive propaganda, but on the other hand, the fact that they now need a large budget for psy-ops in order to counter our crowd, means we are being effective.

  2. With reference to the false claim made in the podcast that we could still avoid passing the lower limit of 1.5° C global average warming stipulated in the Paris accord, perhaps this evidence taken from official NASA websites could be helpful. It shows that the average global temperature has already exceeded 1.5° C when ‘pre-industrial’ is taken to mean 1750.
