Collapse Camp 2026 has just wrapped up in Germany. A huge success by all accounts!
Collapse Camp aims to act now because the “…existing systems are already unstable or reaching their limits, crises and disasters are increasing. The compulsion to grow and the promise of eternal progress through technology are no longer viable. We see climate catastrophe & extreme weather, supply bottlenecks for food, raw materials and medicines, species extinction and habitat loss, strengthening of fascism, militarization, dismantling of the welfare state, and alienation, anxiety and depression. Instead of suppressing, we rely on solidarity-based preparation. We do not see collapse as an apocalyptic end, but as a steady increase in crises and catastrophes. But even if disasters can no longer be prevented, we want to work for justice and reduce suffering.”
What could a Collapse Camp look like where you live? What would the theme be? What would be the priorities in the programme? How would you start organising?

Not sure yet what a “collapse camp” would look like around here, but for some years I’ve been tactfully suggesting that a very good mini-practice would be for each interested party to plan a date in the near future where, upon rising in AM, there will be no electricity, no running water, no fossil-fueled devices, vehicles, or appliances available for that entire day, actually 24 hours.
Since it is only a test, and only for one day, even with advance knowledge, how many individuals will be prepared or able to endure even one day without all the current comforts we all have?
Last year I did my first ever “Paleo Challenge” where I planned ahead that I would not eat or drink even one bite or one sip of anything that derived from a grocery store, farmers’ market, or neighbor. My food intake that day had to come from my garden or foraging.
The day went OK, and I didn’t go hungry, but I sorely missed eggs and yogurt, both of which are serious comfort foods, besides being nutritious.
Well, this ol’ chick is wishing everyone well and sending everyone a little nudge to test yourself now.
Thanks so much for these wonderful articles, Kevin.
