Dr Tadzio Mueller on #JustCollapse

THIS WEEK, the world crossed 2C of warming – for the first, but certainly not the last time. 1. People are hardwired for sociability – see our Little Book of Insurgent Planning. People are working, and will work together, even under the most dire of circumstances. This is the type of mobilisation that matters in collapse, and as Tadzio explains, it’s not about mobilising around ideals or abstract hopes, it about mobilising to achieve equity in day-to-day living. This is one of the big differences between 20th century activism and politics (eg in the west) and 21st century collapse politics and activism. If communities haven’t enough to eat, for example, they tend to mobilise. If they have inadequate medical care, they tend to organise. If they have been impacted by a large disaster, they tend to pull together. This doesn’t mean everything works out well – that’s not the reality of collapse, but it does mean there is shared purpose to sustain what remains.
