Just Collapse
We agree, collapse will be chaos – it already is for some. Our notion of a Planned Collapse is based on insurgent planning not on top-down master planning. Its about communities organising, planning and taking action for their basic needs are systems crumble and contract. Justice in this context will be partial and relative – it is no panacea. There will be no happy ending. Check out the links on our home page if your interested.
It seemed that the plandemic was the start of some serious global collapse strategy. It seems to me that the rest of this century will be one long resource war and justice will be nowhere to be found I’m very sorry to say.
We don’t see any evidence of a deliberate strategy to bring about global collapse. Collapse has been in train for a long time due to overshoot – using and abusing the Earth well beyond its capacity to recover and repair (mainly by the affluent west). We do agree, collapse will be chaos – it already is for some. Our notion of a Planned Collapse is based on insurgent planning not on top-down master planning. Justice in this context will be partial and relative – it is no panacea. There will be no happy ending. Check out the links on our home page if your interested.
On the subject of Justice it can’t have escaped your notice that to get Justice as a sub postmaster here in the UK you wait 25 years and then get ITV to make a program about your problem. Are you really sure you know anything about anything? Or is it just that you don’t get out much?
Justice comes in all kinds of forms and we make no false promises about what is realistic within the context of climate-ecological collapse. For more details about our position: https://justcollapse.org/2022/07/01/a-justcollapse-wtf/
I have been trying to explain all of the converging conditions of collapse for over 15 years now. After every talk I get the invariable question “so what can we do?”. After digging deep into all of the “solutions” put forth by those who would claim to know and finding all of them simply provide either false hope which allows everyone to do nothing, or provide even worse outcomes.
I eventually came to the conclusion that the answer to that question is…LESS! For 10 years or so I answer the question “so what can we do?” with the definitive answer less, we need to do less not more. Earth has an amazing ability to regenerate but only when left alone. I can go into great detail on how doing less…a lot less is truly the only option to all the issues.
Truth is the future is guaranteed to be ALL about less no matter what. We either let TPTB define the less or we the people define it but less it is.
Turns out that Less is the absolute hardest thing for people to do. They will take annihilation over less. I made a full commitment to less over 10 years ago and loving it.
The only more we need is more love, kindness, dignity, community, cooperation, equality,….. things that do not cost money or pollute.
Yes we are called human beings for a reason yet I am surrounded by human doings. My eyes were opened in 1972 after reading Small is Beautiful. I’ve done nothing now for over 50 years.
Many have now gone, in terms of climate change, from prevention to what they call “mitigation” or “resilience”. With that, many local groups are pushing a game they call “getting sustainable” which is not.
I see “Just Collapse” as perhaps the same idea from a more holistic perspective. I wonder if these local groups can even grasp or admit the truth. No sign of that so far.
Is “Just Collapse” collapse with some level of justice also a figment of unjustified hope? I appreciate the effort. But, so far at least, we are so stupid. WTF?
Just Collapse is about achieving as much socio-ecological justice as is possible and realistic. Collapse is a process that is well underway and there are still lots of opportunities to ease the descent for humans and non-humans. We all know that it won’t end well but, for now, it’s the journey that matters.
Pls add me 2 yr email list.

There will be no ‘planned collapse’, especially one rooted in subjective notions of justice.
Instead, collapse will be characterised only by chaos.
