Overshoot by a factor of 30 (using fossil fuels)! That sounds about right. There is no way out of this.

The number that is usually talked about is ‘2’ – that the world is using twice what can be sustained. But this is a massive underestimation…

We cannot get around the fact that we inhabit a finite planet with finite resources. Our predicament is NOT a morality play. It’s not a political issue. It’s not a problem of social and economic inequality. Yes, some are already suffering more than others, and that will undoubtedly be the case throughout the collapses. If our species’ survival is the goal, then what we need is enough of us to ‘remember’ how we lived for countless millennia before the ‘dawn of civilization,’ when we began our journey on the ‘road to perdition’ where we find ourselves, today. Guess where we’re most likely to find such people? Exactly among those who have been ‘left behind’ or chosen to not join us on that road. To use a phrase from our twisted social vocabulary, it will be the ultimate in ‘poetic justice.’

Overshoot, yes. But there is no climate crisis. Read my book: Why Human Society Will Collapse Before 2100.
