  1. There is no way to ‘prepare’ for the collapse. It will be full of chaos, violence and uncertainty. Therefore, we should focus on being as kind, loving and helpful as possible to everyone we encounter. Those are things we can control. The collapse will be in the hands of Mother Earth.

    1. We agree. Though it does depend on what one means by ‘prepare’ and by ‘collapse’. Collapse is already in train and will continue to unfold and intensify – it is not an event that will happen sometime in the future. While some have agency, it is possible to start working with collapse in mind – a form of ‘preparation’ for the diverse events that may occur as part of the collapse process. For example, making connections locally that can grow and develop as collapse continues to unfold or talking collapse so that others have the possibility of doing the same or setting a plan to improve chances of survival in a large scale disaster. What won’t work or will only partially work, is prepping in a lone wolf sense, as an individual.

  2. Agreed. However, while the collapse has already begun, it will reach the proverbial ‘tipping point,’ at which time, chaos will ensue. That’s the time local connections are likely to be the most helpful, but flexibility/adaptability will be the most important ‘trait’ or ‘skill’ to have. Of course, there is more than a bit of speculation in any scenario we can imagine. This will truly be brand new territory.

    1. Collapse is, and will, happen differently in different places and for different people. So there are already places around the world living in the grim end of collapse and there are already people (even in affluent societies) living in a state of collapse eg the growing number of homeless. We don’t see there being a single ‘tipping point’ that will be a sign we need to act in different ways.
