An honest assessment?

“We’re already in the midst of abrupt climate upheaval, which jeopardises life on Earth like nothing humans have ever seen,” said Prof William Ripple, of Oregon State University (OSU), who co-led the group. “Ecological overshoot – taking more than the Earth can safely give – has pushed the planet into climatic conditions more threatening than anything witnessed even by our prehistoric relatives.”

Collapse is inevitable, but justice isn’t. #JustCollapse

  1. An honest assessment would have been to explicitly mention global warming as of now, warn the reader that the 1.28 degrees Celsius warming (tucked away in a supllement) is with respect to 1951-1980 (figure 3d) instead of the standard 1850-1900 and mention the 1.6 warming with respect to that pre-industrial era (Copernicus: annual mean since feb. 2024), a temperature rise which the reader should now distill from figure 1e, a figure with no source mentioned, however.
